As an engineering student, I am constantly surrounded by dudes.
Teenage dudes, many with ridiculous metabolisms.
So while they eat fish and chips, burgers, McDonald’s, Hungry Jack’s and KFC, I sit and try not to.
Dudes make unhealthy food normal.
Still love them though!

Day 16: not bad at all.

So today I started the Couch to 10K program … yay running!

Also, I ate:

2 slices of light rye toast (136 calories), peanut butter (154 cal) and a banana (105 cal)

2 boiled eggs 104 calories,

skinless chicken , chickpeas, quinoa and cashews

1 strawberry forme yoghurt … yummmmm

Day 15: well that was a weird week.

I have had a really stressful/strange week.

My room (the best indicator of my mental state) is an absolute bomb site …

Anyway my tumblr didn’t seem to agree with my internet connection and so a few posts just didn’t go/stay up!

So today I ate

1 bowl of cereal with skim milk

1 banana

2 boiled eggs

a handful of almonds, macadamias and cashews

around 10 hot chips (stolen from friends … regret that)

skinless cooked chicken breast

1 small avocado

I am about to get stuck into the Lean Legs Pyramid from Tone It Up, yay!

fitvillains:

Older gent doing Tai Chi for the first time during our ‘Car Free’ week in Montreal. Grass was laid out on a normally busy downtown road and class was free for anyone to try.
He clearly loved it, and inspired others to join. Another reminder: You’re never too old to try something new and always as young as you feel!
Xo

Awesome !!

Day 9: too relaxed ?

Today I ate:

2 table spoons of crunchy peanut butter (the best kind) on toasted light rye

2 hard boiled eggs

1 green apple

1 Atkins endulge bar

1 bowl of organic corn chips (very moderate portion) and chili con carne

a few cashews, macadamias, and almonds.

This morning I did:

20 heel touch crunches

20 elbow-leg-touch crunches (that’s the scientific term)

50 lying-on-side (technical terms again) hip abductions

20 single leg bridges

25 raised leg figure 8’s

15 push ups

10 lunges

10 second wall sit

10 second plank

15 squat jacks

Just now I did:

‘Starting Ten’, twice over. Starting twenty, you could say.

Today I also did:

ZERO WORK FOR UNI.

Not for exams, not for my presentation on Friday, not for my major assignment.

I suppose there are worse methods of procrastinations.

Although I definitely went a little hard today, tomorrow is my rest day!

I HAVE A BANANA

A reasonably large, perfectly ripe banana.

(This has not been common in Australia for months.)

I am so excited to eat it.

I don’t even care how weird this sounds.

Sleeping burns calories?!

imperfectionatbestt:

Who would of thought that you could burn so many calories while sleeping? The most relaxing thing on the planet!

Take your weight. Example: 150lbs.
Times 150lbs by 0.42cals = 63 calories

That’s right. For every pound you weigh, you burn 0.42 calories an hour.
If you get a good 8 hours of sleep at night and taking the example from above, you can lose about 504 calories.

Calories = energy, am I right ?

Basic cell function, the processes which keep us alive and allow us to go through with our daily activities, requires energy.

We may not burn many, but just because we’re not exercising or moving around, doesn’t mean we aren’t using some amount of our energy reserves !

People burn calories just by being alive.

Quinoa.

So a few days ago I asked my parents if they could look in the health food section of the supermarket for quinoa, because I know I’ve seen it there and I’m really keen on trying it.

When my mum, thinking I was out of earshot, asked my dad how he went with getting quinoa, this is the response he gave:

“I didn’t even look.”

And then they had a good chuckle about it.

I love my family for raising me to think of McDonald’s as a once a year experience and KFC as non-existent. And for never buying soft drinks extremely unhealthy food …

But doing the healthy eating thing alone can make it so much harder.
